Rochdale AFC has submitted a planning application for the Bowlee development following a positive pre-application consultation process. Over 80% of respondents supported the proposals overall, with 85% backing enhanced sports facilities at the site. Feedback from the consultation has shaped the application, addressing concerns raised by the community. The project now awaits approval to proceed with Phase 1, which includes a first-team training pitch, a Rochdale AFC Community Trust 3G pitch, a community grass pitch, and an ancillary facilities building. Private investment has been identified to fund this initial phase, occupying approximately half the site. Phase 2, contingent on funding and further consultation, would expand the hub with additional pitches and facilities. The development aims to create long-term benefits for football, physical activity, and local wellbeing. The planning application, reference PL/2026/0738, is available on the Rochdale Borough Council’s portal. Residents and neighboring properties will be directly consulted as the process advances.
