Rochdale AFC is urging the public to have their say on plans for a new Community Football & Wellbeing Hub at Bowlee. The club has confirmed a formal planning application, reference PL/2026/0738, has been submitted to Rochdale Borough Council for the significant long-term investment.
Pre-application consultation showed overwhelming support, with over 80% of respondents backing the overall proposals and around 85% agreeing on the need and location for the scheme. The hub is designed to provide modern facilities for grassroots and community football, health, wellbeing and wider community activities across the borough.

Rochdale AFC is now encouraging anyone with an interest in the site, grassroots sport or local community facilities to review the detailed plans and submit comments via the council’s official planning portal. This formal planning process is a separate stage from the earlier public consultation.
A key consideration for the proposal is the hub’s intended relationship with Rochdale AFC’s own community programmes. The club sees it as a vital piece of infrastructure to support physical activity and community cohesion for years to come.
