Cian Hayes headed a late winner as Rochdale beat Swindon Town 1-0 in League Two on Saturday. The substitute connected with a set-piece delivery from Aden Flint in the 88th minute to secure three points at Spotland.
Swindon, who had not scored away from home for over 630 minutes, defended stubbornly but were reduced to ten men late on. Kaelan Majekodunmi received a second yellow card in the 85th minute, just minutes before the decisive goal. The visitors had created chances, with Antwoine Hackford and Aaron Drinan going close, but Dajaune Brown also missed a good opportunity for Rochdale.
Holloway's frustration
The win lifts Rochdale to 16th in the table with 10 points from eight games. Their recent form shows three wins and two draws from the last five outings. Next up is a trip to face Tranmere Rovers, who are 10th, on October 10.
