Nils Ramming has been praised for an "unbelievable" save after keeping a clean sheet on his Rochdale debut this week. The Brighton loanee goalkeeper was ever-present as Dale secured a 3-0 home win over Shrewsbury Town in League Two, their first points of the season after three pointless fixtures. Watson said: "I’m over the moon with the clean sheet. Nils made an unbelievable save with his left leg." He added that Ramming is a very good goalkeeper who is still very young and fully believes in what the team are trying to do. The Albion shot-stopper has also been showing his footwork in build-up play for Rochdale since joining on a season-long loan this summer. He followed in Robert Sanchez’s footsteps by signing the temporary deal, and has been joined at Spotland by Albion under-21s right-back Charlie Tasker, who is also on loan for the campaign. Ramming was born in London but progressed via the academy at Eintracht Frankfurt after his family moved to Germany. He joined Albion last summer and played in some under-21 fixtures as well as training with the senior group. According to the Argus, Watson has been pleased with the young keeper’s progress and delighted to see the pay-off of his loan signing. The Dale boss admitted he is asking a lot of his young loanee but said Ramming fully believes in the system and is very brave with it. Rochdale remain pointless after three fixtures but put that right with the midweek victory over Shrewsbury, lifting them off the bottom of League Two. The clean sheet was Ramming’s first for the club and came amid a dominant performance that saw Dale control possession and create multiple chances. He has been praised for his bravery and willingness to come off his line, with Watson highlighting his left-leg save as a standout moment. The goalkeeper’s distribution from the back has also been noted as a key part of Rochdale’s build-up play under Watson this season. Ramming will aim to keep another clean sheet when Rochdale host Barrow on Saturday, 5 September 2026, as they look to build on their first win of the campaign.
