Rochdale's boss Jim McNulty has left the club to manage Stockport County. He joins Stockport on a three-year deal after leading Rochdale back to the English Football League. Rochdale won the National League promotion final at Wembley last month.

McNulty's departure comes after he led Rochdale to promotion. He arrived at Rochdale in 2022-23 and signed a two-year deal. Rochdale finished 11th in their first season in the National League. They then sealed a play-off spot in 2024-25 before winning promotion last term.

Rochdale said they had put succession plans in place in case McNulty departed. The club thanked McNulty for his fight, honesty, and love for Rochdale. They wished him and his family the best.
