Rochdale are riding high from their return to the EFL, but Bradford City manager Bobby Pointon is confident his team can get past them in their Carabao Cup campaign curtain-raiser. The Bantams face a tough test against the Dale side at Valley Parade, but Pointon is treating them like any other Championship side. "We'll treat it like we did the Championship sides and Newcastle last year," he insisted. "There won't be any underestimating or anything like that." Bradford City relished their underdog status to topple Blackburn and Stoke in impressive away wins before their big night at Newcastle. They went down 4-1 in the third-round tie at St James' Park but played their part in front of a whopping 51,249 audience. That has whetted the appetite for more with Pointon and his teammates. "That's what that cup's good for. We had a few nice away days. "We had the Championship sides and it was good to beat them. Then we had the big one at Newcastle, a sell-out. "I think it probably is the most a lot of us have played in front of. It was a good experience for us all. "We enjoyed it, went out there and didn't show too much respect. We pressed them like we will do against anyone. "It was nice to get it under the belt and hopefully we can have another one like that this season." Next fixture: vs Walsall (at home, 2027-02-20).
